Established in 1999...
Shortly after, we received the privilege to design and build multiple units of custom cabinetry for clients in the Brookwood Place Condominium Complex which included bookcases, media centers, desks and display units. Also we built the glass and wood wall unit in the award winning Model.
In the following years we worked in Virginia Highlands, Decatur, Buckhead and inside the Atlanta perimeter area on large and small projects for both residential and commercial clients.

A kitchen that we built, was featured in the Better Homes and Garden Special Interest Publication Kitchen and Bath Ideas.. the article was entitled "House Blend combining rooms, purposes, and periods... smart style and storage bring it all to the table". In that kitchen we incorporated the washer and dryer in the kitchen behind pocket doors, built shallow cabinetry disguised with wainscoting used for bar supplies that merged into a banquette which was a nod to old-style seating", the two toned cabinetry was finished with a white paint lacquer and stained walnut was a hit.

Lawrence and Sharon Blackwell owners of Blackwell Custom Cabinets, born and raised in Northern Virginia, right outside Washington DC. Lawrence has a background in commercial and industrial arts. He learned cabinet making from his uncle-- a custom home builder and master carpenter. Sharon grew up loving fashion; and has worked in the field for over 30 years.
In 1991, we bought and renovated a 1927 bungalow that needed custom cabinetry. The selection offered at big box home improvement centers and large cabinet shops did not fit our needs. We knew that we were not alone in our frustration. So in 1999 Lawrence, equipped with the training from his uncle, set out to provide affordable and unique custom cabinets to home owners just like them.
